Team Yonex Chases History on Wimbledon's Grass

London, UK – Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the 2025 tennis season, kicks off on Monday, June 30

The prestigious event is unlike any other in sports, held annually at the All England Club in southwest London, it boasts a storied 148-year history, making it the ultimate dream stage for tennis players from around the world.

On the beautifully maintained green lawn courts, which require meticulous year-round care, players follow a strict dress code that allows only white attire. However, the shirts, shoes, and racquets used by Team Yonex athletes are all infused with the latest technology.

So, who are the Yonex stars aiming to shine at this iconic event, where tradition meets innovation? Let’s take a look.

The American "Three Musketeers" Shine Bright

American Ben Shelton (USA) broke into the Top 10 in the ATP rankings for the first time in his career just a couple of weeks ago.

He learned the news during an on-court interview following his win at the Stuttgart Open.

“I’ve got to see it first,” the 22-year-old said with a big smile. “So if that is true, that’s really cool, a big milestone [in my career].”

Guided by his father and coach, Bryan Shelton, Ben had never competed in an international tournament before attending college. In fact, he didn’t even have a passport. Instead, he focused on earning points through ATP Challenger events within the U.S., eventually breaking into the Top 100 by the end of 2022.

His first overseas tour came in the 2023 season—and just two years later, the rising star has already hit a major career milestone.

Grass courts are particularly well-suited to this 6-foot-3 (193 cm) lefty’s powerful serve. He reached the second round in his Wimbledon debut in 2023, and made it to the Round of 16 last year. What’s in store for him this year? Let’s find out.

Shelton is following in the footsteps of fellow Americans Tommy Paul (USA) and Frances Tiafoe (USA), who paved the way to the Top 10.

Paul, 28, is known for his excellent hand-eye coordination and all-court versatility. He reached the quarterfinals last year and already owns a tour title on grass—proof of his compatibility with the surface.

Tiafoe’s explosive playing style becomes even more powerful on grass. Once he builds momentum, he has the potential to make a deep run in the tournament.

These three close friends—dubbed the American "Three Musketeers"—continue to push and inspire each other to reach new heights.

Rising Stars to Watch

Among the younger generation, Brazilian sensation Joao Fonseca (BRA) is quickly becoming a player to watchat Wimbledon and beyond.

He earned his first tour-level grass-court win at Eastbourne just this week. In the second round, he battled top seed Taylor Fritz in a hard-fought three-set match. The 18-year-old continues to improve with every outing, and his potential seems limitless.

Team Yonex Women Making Waves

On the women’s side, Team Yonex players are showing impressive form in the lead-up to Wimbledon.

Jasmine Paolini (ITA), last year’s Wimbledon finalist; Jessica Pegula (USA), the 2024 US Open runner-up; and rising Czech star Linda Noskova (CZE) all reached the semifinals of the WTA 500 event in Bad Homburg, with Pegula ultimately claiming the title.

Noskova, 20, made headlines at the 2024 Australian Open when she defeated then-world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. She claimed her first WTA title in Monterrey last August, further proving her talent. Her powerful groundstrokes are especially effective on fast surfaces, making her a potential breakout star this tournament.

And don’t overlook Madison Keys (USA), the 2025 Australian Open champion.

With 10 career titles to her name, her very first came on grass at the Eastbourne International back in 2014—proof of her long-standing affinity for the surface.

The Magic of Grass-Court Season

The grass-court season is one of the shortest on the tennis calendar, lasting just over a month. But in that brief window, surprises, breakthroughs, and even miracles can unfold.

The magic of grass lies in its unpredictability—and once again this year, new stories are sure to be written by Team Yonex on the sport’s most sacred stage.
