Day 1 of this year’s Roland Garros saw Turkish #1 Cagla Buyukakcay subdue #22 seed Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in a straight 6-3 6-3 win.

Due to suspension of play, Day 2 saw the completion of Steve Johnson vs Yuichi Sugita, ending with the American denying Sugita of an upset in the final set. Pierre-Hugues Herbert captured his first singles win at Roland Garros with an upset over upcoming American Jared Donaldson. Day 2 also featured an all EZONE affair, with Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova overcoming fellow EZONE player CoCo Vandeweghe in straight sets.
