Next Gen’s Tiafoe Captures his First ATP Title

On the final day of the Delray Beach Open (Delray Beach, America 2/19 – 2/25), Next Gen ATP player Frances Tiafoe (USA) soundly defeated Peter Gojowczyk of Germany (6-1, 6-4) to claim his first ATP finals win.

Tiafoe used his VCORE-powered shots to successively defeat top-10-ranked Juan Martin del Potro (Argentina) and Australian Open semifinalist Hyeon Chung (Korea), resulting in a historic first ATP tournament win for a wild card entrant.

“It's unbelievable,” said Tiafoe. “It's an amazing feeling and I just hope I can get many more as I go along.” The achievement represents a major breakthrough for Tiafoe, achieving a new personal best ATP ranking of 61[i], while continuing to aim for even greater heights.

Players using VCORE flourished in the tournament, with three of the top four — Tiafoe, Steve Johnson (USA) and Denis Shapovalov (Canada) — wielding the racquets.
