Wawrinka Overcomes Top Speed for Title in Portugal

VCORE player Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour 97) claimed his fourth ATP Tour title at the clay court Portugal Open tournament in Oeiras last week.


In the final, Stan, the No. 2 seed, faced top seed David Ferrer, the world No. 4 player and clay court expert with 10 titles to his credit. In the first set, Stan played aggressively enough to win 5 games in a row with strong forehand winners, and only took 30 minutes to capture the set 6-1. Stan had a brilliant performance, especially in his service games, which he won 36 of the 42 service points, Throughout the match, Stan denied his opponent any chance to break.  With another break in the second set, Stan overwhelmed David Ferrer for the title in straight sets, 6-1,6-4.


Stan competed at the tournament with the clay court model of SHT-308 series, which received the Gold Medal in French Tennis Magazine, Tennis Addict, for three consecutive years.
