Wawrinka Takes Next Step with New Tennis Shoes

On the third day of the Australian Open, No. 8 seed Stanislas Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G) progressed to the next round unwaveringly defeating Alejandro Falla of Colombia 6-3, 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4.

Since qualifying for the World Tour Finals, Stan has played with confidence placing him at number 8 in the world last year. Tennis fans have taken more notice of his play, in anticipation of great things from him as the season progresses. Stan really enjoyed the exciting energy produced by all his fans throughout yesterday’s match, “I think it’s such an amazing atmosphere to play a night session at the Margaret Court. The fans are really into it. They’re really enjoying the match. They’re really loud. It’s always fun to play,” according to the Australian Open official website.

In the second round against Alejandro Falla, Stan continually attacked, gaining 9 aces and 61 winners through the match to take the lead. Stan made 17 break chances putting pressure on his opponent, ultimately overpowering the Colombian player helping him win the match. He will face No. 28 seed Vasek Pospisil of Canada in the third round.

Stan was excited to start playing with the new YONEX tennis shoes at the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, his top choice being the SHT-PROEX.  This shoe was designed to provide maximum support, smooth movement and energy transfer on each of the court surfaces.

In addition to POWER CUSHION, this model has three outstanding performance features listed below, which can aid your footwork especially when conditions get tough on the court.

1. Guard Durable Skin to prevent lateral movement of the foot inside of the shoe

2. Flexible Midsole + Graphite Sheet to provide greater agility by producing a spring effect

3. Heel contact Round Sole for a smoother landing
