Wimbledon: Sensational Matches from Team YONEX Ladies

Team YONEX German players Angelique Kerber (VCORE Si 100) and Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour F 97, POLYTOUR SPIN) steadily advanced to round 3 after definitive victories on the fourth day of Wimbledon. Meanwhile a 26-year-old Slovakian EZONE user Magdalena Rybarikova (EZONE Ai 98, POLYTOUR PRO 125) won a stunning victory over No. 8 seed Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in straight sets.

Angelique, who won a title at one of the tournaments leading up to Wimbledon in Birmingham, continued to demonstrate excellent performance on grass. In her round 2 match yesterday, the pressure she poured on her opponent earned her an advantage of twelve break chances. The first set proved quite tight, but Angelique dominated in the second. Breaking two times, she steadily booked her place in the third round with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

2013 Wimbledon finalist Sabine scored an upset victory over Christina McHale of the US with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 score line. She had this to say in the post-match interview, “I didn't play a good first set and I knew it. So I knew I could do much better than that. I was just focusing on the things I could do better rather than the balls that I missed. At that point I started finding my range and hit the ball better and better from there," according to the WTA official website. Attacking with the VCORE Tour F, Sabine overcame tough setbacks to seal the match. The record-breaking German boasted aggressive performance with big serves, securing 25 winners and 8 aces during the match.

Four-time WTA singles titleholder Magdalena Rybarikova achieved a massive victory against No. 8 seed Russian Ekaterina Makarova in her first singles round 2 match at Wimbledon. She overwhelmed the seeded player earning 11 aces and 26 winners, and secured her win with a solid return game, capturing five of six break points. Magdalena meets Olga Govortsova of Belarus in the next round as goes even further at the biggest grass court tournament.
