YONEX French Open Superseries 2014: Strong Showing for European Shuttlers

Following the YONEX Denmark Open Superseries Premier, the 2014 YONEX French Open Superseries commenced on October 21st. YONEX is proud to act as the title sponsor for this Superseries event, and will be offering stringing service to the players, as well maintaining a booth at the tournament venue.



Action on the court got started with European pairs making a strong showing in the first round of mixed doubles. The German mixed doubles powerhouse of Michael Fuchs (VOLTRIC 80) and Birgit Michels (NANORAY 700FX, SHBSC4LX) went up against Maneepong Jongjit (VOLTRIC 80, SHBF1NLTD)/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (ARCSABER 11) in a three-game and nearly hour-long match. While the fifth seeded German duo won by a comfortable margin in the first game, their Thai opponents proved tenacious in game 2, stretching the match out to a third, deciding game. Michael and Birgit managed to beat the Thai pair in the end with a score of 21-15, 19-21, 21-17.

Mads Pieler Kolding (ARCSABER 11, SHB-87EX)/Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NANORAY 900) boasted a confident, straight-sets win over Japanese pair Kenichi Hayakawa/Misaki Matsutomo. In a match that ran just over 30 minutes, the Danish pair dominated in the opening game, and lead confidently in the second despite the Japanese pair’s attempts to force a decider. The match ended at 21-13, 21-19. No. 4 seeds Chris Adcock (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE Ⅱ, SHB01LTD)  and Gabrielle Adcock (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE Ⅱ, SHBSC4LX) did well in their opening match against Indonesian pair Praveen Jordan (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE Ⅱ, SHB01LTD) /Debby Susanto. While the two were given some trouble, the husband-and-wife pair led for most of the match. The match ended in 37 minutes, with the score coming to 21-19, 21-17.
