Career

 Thirteen years after winning her first WTA title, in Tashkent in 2008, Sorana Cirstea lifted a trophy for a second time with her triumph in Istanbul in 2021. The Romanian has also showed her class at the Grand Slams, with her deepest run coming on the clay of Roland Garros in 2009 when she reached the quarterfinals.
 Cirstea, whose highest ranking was No. 21, has also twice made the fourth round at the Australian Open.
