Angelique Kerber wins first WTA title in Paris

YONEX Angelique Kerber (VCORE 100S) won the final at the Open GDF SUEZ on Sunday, defeating #7 Marion Bartoli with a 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-3 victory and clinched her first WTA title.



Angelique defeated #1 seed Maria Sharapova at the quarterfinals in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 and advanced to the final. This is also the first victory against Top 10 of her career.

At the final, Angelique played very powerful throughout the game, even after she lost the second set, she kept persistence and got 4-0 lead from the beginning of the third set. Finally she closed the 2 hours and 39 minutes match at the center court.

Maria advanced to the final of PPT Pattaya Open and played against 3rd seeded Daniela Hantuchova. Maria won the 72-minutes first set with tie- break, breaking opponent's first game but lost the close match with 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3 at the end.

She will play at Qatar Total Open 2012 this week as well as Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE 100S), Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Xi 98) and Angelique Kerber (VCORE 100S).
