Australian Open 2015: Nick Powers Into Round 3

More good news for Team Yonex, with more wins on the courts of Rod Laver Arena.

Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98POLYTOUR PRO 120) continues to exhibit incredible talent, defeating No. 23 seed Ivo Karlovic in two hours and change. The Canberra native demonstrated resilience and composure throughout the match, boasting very clean performance with far fewer errors than his seeded opponent. Nick grabbed a pivotal break point in the first set’s tiebreaker to take the match after his opponent double faulted. Despite dropping a close third set, Nick successfully took the final set in 30 minutes, closing the match with an astounding ace. The final score was 7-6(4), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Nick meets Malek Jaziri in the third round.

Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Tour GSHT-PRO) earned a straight-set win against Romania’s Marius Copil. It took the defending champion just over two hours to beat the qualifier, the match ending at 7-6, 7-6, 6-3.

Veterans dominated in doubles, with Lleyton Hewitt (VCORE Tour 97, YONEX Shoes) and fellow Australian Chris Guccione beating Federico Delbonis and Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 6-3 in under an hour with 25 winners. Martina Hingis (EZONE Ai 100POLYTOUR PRO 125SHT-PRO) and Flavia Pennetta faced off against fellow YONEX player Belinda Bencic (EZONE Ai 100POLYTOUR HS 125) and partner Katerina Siniakova. The first set proved tight, but Martina and Flavia eventually pulled through for a 7-6(3), 6-2 win.

Nick Kyrgios continues to make a name for himself, and now has the POLYTOUR PRO 120 to back him up. Made with comfort in mind, the POLYTOUR PRO is kind on hard-hitting players’ arms, allowing them to keep focused entirely on the match. With superior repulsion power along with the resilience that the POLYTOUR series is known for, Nick has reliable support as he makes his way through this year’s Australian Open. The newest addition to the series, the POLYTOUR SPIN G 125 boasts a unique pentagonal structure, and is made with monofilament infused with Silicone oil for ferocious spin and strong snapback. With the SPIN G, string movement is increased by 5%, snapback speed is up by a staggering 16%, and spin is up by 8%.
