Boe & Mogensen Win Consecutive China Open Titles

One of Superseries Premier tournaments, China Open was held from November 13th to 18th at Shanghai. Defending champions of men’s doubles, Mathias Boe (AT900P) and Carsten Mogensen (VTZFLTD) advanced to the final again this year.


The world No. 1 men’s doubles pair won each match in straight sets for progressing to the final, and they also played solidly in the championship match. Especially they exceeded the opponents, Sung Hyun Ko and Yong Dae Lee in offensive performances, and earned 23 smash winners throughout the match while the Korean pair did 7 times. Such their scoring abilities became a key factor that the defending champions took initiative to win the title, by 21-15 21-14.


Mathias and Carsten achieved to win their second consecutive China Open title. Next, they are going to play in BWF Superseries Finals, which they became the champions for the past two years in a row at.


In the women’s singles, the world No. 10 Ratchanok Inthanon (ARC10) defeated No. 5 seed Juliane Schenk, who won the quarterfinal match against world No. 1 Yihan Wang, in the semifinals by 18-21 21-10 21-14. It was a big step for seventeen-year-old Ratchanok to advance to the final at the Superseries Premier event.


No. 5 seed Peng Soon Chan (ARC10) and Liu Ying Goh (NR700RP) faced the world No.1 pair Chen Xu and Jin Ma in the final of mixed doubles. The Malaysian pair, who won Superseries title at YONEX OPEN JAPAN 2012, became finalists at the big tournament after defeating No. 3 seed Tontowi Ahmad (AT900P) and Liliyana Natsir (NR700RP) in the semifinals by 21-19 21-14.
