Denmark Open SSP 2014: Terrific Start for YONEX Shuttlers

YONEX’s best and brightest all made terrific starts in the first rounds of their respective events as this year’s Denmark Open kicked into full drive on September 15th.



Representing Team VOLTRIC, Jan O. Jorgensen (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE Ⅱ, SHBSC6iEX) and Ratchanok Intanon (VOLTRIC 70 E-tuneSHBF1NLX) hit the ground running with solid first-round victories. Jan O. secured a confident 21-11, 21-16 win over fellow YONEX shuttler Marc Zwiebler (ARCSABER 11SHB-87EX), while Ratchanok cruised through a straight-set affair against qualifier Kati Tolmoff with a final score of 21-13, 21-12. Ratchanok has started using the VOLTRIC 70 E-tune as of the Denmark Open. All four of the orange E-tune racquet attachments has, given her the devastating amount of power on the court she needs for the Denmark Open.

On Team NANORAY, Mohammad Ahsan (NANORAY 900, SHB87LTD)/Hendra Setiawan (NANORAY 900, SHBF1NLTD) brought about a straight-set victory in a close match against Hirokatsu Hashimoto (ARCSABER 11)/Noriyasu Hirata (NANORAY 900,) at 22-20, 24-22. Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NANORAY 900,)/Christinna Pedersen (NANORAY 800SHB-01LX) secured a comfortable win against German pair Birgit Michels (NANORAY 700FX)/Isabel Herttrich at 21-17, 21-15. Saina Nehwal’s (NANORAY 900,) first round match saw her come back from a set down to defeat Karin Schnaase, 12-21, 21-10, 21-12.

Finally, representing Team ARCSABER, Mathias Boe (ARCSABER 11, SHBSC6iEX)/Carsten Mogensen (ARCSABER 11SHB87LTD) overpowered the fellow Danish pair of Mathias Bay-Smidt/Frederik Sogaard Mortensen at 21-7, 21-5. American Beiwen Zhang (ARCSABER 11SHB87LTD) won against Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in a tough and intense full-set match at 16-21, 22-20, 21-16.

Off the court, Viktor Axelsen (ARCSABER 11SHB-87EX) appeared before droves of enthusiastic fans for an autograph session. Fans were ecstatic to meet the young Danish shuttler. Watch the video of his autograph session on Badminton Denmark’s Facebook page.
