Kerber advances to the Semifinals

On Tuesday, July 3rd, 2 YONEX players Angelique Kerber (VCORE 100S) and Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97) met in the quarterfinals. It was the first time for German to have a match in the quarterfinals of Grand Slam since Steffi Graf faced C. Kohde-Kilsch at Australia in 1989.

Angelique showed solid performance in the first set. She made only 2 unforced errors and broke 3 times, so she could win the set steadily by 6-3. Then in the next set, Angelique had 3 match points after playing persistently against Sabine's hard shots but Sabine managed to get over it all 3 times by aggressive strokes and win the set with 34 winners. In the decider, Angelique's stability exceeded Sabine's offense and Angelique closed the match after a definite break in 11th game. The final score was 6-3, 6-7(7), 7-5 and this is the first time for Angelique to reach Wimbledon semifinals.

With EZONE Xi 98, No. 17 seed Maria Kirilenko faced No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska. It was so a close match and Maria lost by 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, however, she played solidly enough to show the performance of EZONE Xi. Especially Maria excelled in offense against the opponent and she made 52 winners throughout the match while the Polish did 36 times. She achieved to progress to the last 8 in Wimbledon 2012 and showed excellent performance to us.

In the semifinals, Angelique will play against Agnieszka Radwanska for Saturdayfs final.
