In men’s singles Borna Coric (VCORE Tour F 97, POLYTOUR SPIN) secured a first-round victory, making for an excellent start to his Roland Garros debut. Against Sam Querrey, Borna’s senior by nine years, the 18-year-old Croat pulled off a skillful victory. World No. 46 Borna exhibited a cleaner game than the experienced Querrey, with only 30 unforced errors to his opponent’s 57, and sealed the match at 7-6(8), 6-3, 0-6, 6-3. 20-year-old Australian powerhouse Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98, POLYTOUR PRO 120) is also leading the way for youngsters at the tournament, grabbing a straight-set victory over Denis Istomin. The world No. 30 saved nine break points, landing 32 winners and seven aces to earn a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 victory in just under 100 minutes. Daria’s winners scored doubled that of her opponent, the match concluding at 6-1, 7-6(3).
