Solid Denmark Wins the Opener

It's the opening day of the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals on Sunday, May 20th. World No. 5 men's singles player, Peter Gade(VT80) led the team to win 5-0 against South Africa.


Gade's showed his brilliant performance to defeat Jacob Malieka by 21-7, 21-6 in 25 minutes at the first match. After Gade and Jan O Jorgensen's winning, an 18-year-old Viktor Axelsen(VTZF) followed their winning streak to decide Denmark's winning. He defeated the opponent, Prakash Viyajanath with 21-4, 21-5 in 18 minutes.


In the doubles, world No. 3 pair Mathias Boe(AT900P) and Carsten Mogensen(VTZF) defeated Dorian Lance James and Willem Viljoen by 21-12, 21-14.


Japan was also solid to win both in Thomas and Uber Cup. Men's team defeated New Zealand and women's team won against USA.


Today, Lee Chong Wei(VTZF) leads Malaysia to play against South Africa.
