Stan the Man Wins Title in Homeland and Looks Towards Roland Garros

On May 21st World No. 4 Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Duel G 97, POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION) won a title in his homeland for the very first time. Up against Marin Cilic, the Swiss seized a 6-4, 7-6(11) victory to win the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open trophy.

The Swiss was playing in excellent form in the opening set, not facing a single break point. After confidently taking the opener, it had almost looked as if tables were turned in the second. Stan the Man powered back after being led 4-1 to break his opponent at 3-5 and proceed to force a tiebreaker. Victory went to the Swiss after his Croatian opponent returned the ball long.

“It's a dream come true to be able to win a title in Switzerland, after all these tournaments," commented Stan on his big win on the official ATP World Tour website.

With this title under his belt, Stan the Man extends his winning streak in tournament finals to an astounding 10.

Looking towards Paris

Stan now heads to Paris with a mission—defend his Roland Garros title. The Stanimal won his second Grand Slam title at the tournament last year after a thrilling 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 final match against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. Stan has the distinction of being the last player to beat the Serb in a Grand Slam.

Stan the Man will be taking to Roland Garros’ red clay courts with the flash yellow 10160EX crew neck shirt and black 15052EX shorts. Backing up his footwork is of course the clay court variant of the POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION. In the extended rallies characteristic of clay tennis, the Yonex POWER CUSHION keeps Stan’s fatigue low so he can stay sharp on the court.
