[20] Marketa Vondrousova (CZE) rolled to a 62-minute second-round win. The former French Open finalist is the highest seed in the bottom quarter of the draw and will take on unseeded Polona Hercog for a spot in the fourth round.
Casper on Cruise Control
Clay-court specialist [15] Casper Ruud (NOR) put together a convincing straight-set victory over Kamil Majchrzak to advance to the third round. It’s Casper’s 17th win on red clay this season, which is the most of all ATP players.
USA on Clay
Marcos Giron, Steve Johnson, and Jessica Pegula make up a quarter of the Americans into the third round in Paris.
Giron and Johnson – both NCAA Singles Champions in their college days – will be looking to advance to the second week in Paris for the first time in their careers. Pegula, who is at her career-high ranking, looks to build on her recent success, as she takes on 2020 Roland-Garros finalist and fellow American [4] Sofia Kenin.
