2021 Slovenia Open: Paolini wins maiden WTA title

PORTOROZ, SloveniaJasmine Paolini (ITA) won her first WTA singles title at the Zavarovalnica Sava Portoroz (Slovenia Open).

The 25-year-old entered the tournament at her career-high ranking of 87, but she will leave with another career-best – now ranked 64 – after defeating four seeded players, including three in the WTA top-50 en route to the title.

"I think it’s been an amazing week here in Portoroz," said Paolini. "I feel just very happy. It’s a big achievement for me, to win my first title.
