2022 Open Sud de France: Bublik’s best performance ends in a maiden title

MONPELLIER, France – Alexander Bublik (KAZ) upset World No. 3 Alexander Zverev to win his first-ever title on the ATP Tour.

“I played four finals before and [in] the fifth final I have won against a great player against Sascha,” Bublik said. “It is great. All my game together. I was serving well and returned well and kept my nerve. I was lucky in the moments and when I had my chances, I used them.”

With the victory, Bublik moved up four spots to a career-high ranking of 31. It was Bublik’s first win over a top-5 opponent.
