US Open: Stan Into 2nd US Open Semifinal

Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Tour GSHT-PRO) has booked a place in his second US Open semifinal by recording a win over South African Kevin Anderson.

Stan exhibited excellent returns against the No. 15 seed’s huge serves, keeping him behind the baseline. The World No. 5 also boasted a cleaner game than his opponent, with only 15 unforced errors compared to Anderson’s 42. Without dropping a single game in the final set, Stan closed the match at 6-4, 6-4, 6-0.

CoCo Vandeweghe (EZONE DR 98) and Anna-Lena Groenefeld have secured a spot in the women’s doubles semifinals upsetting No. 5 seeds Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik. The two have advanced without dropping a single set this tournament, and have ousted a host of experienced players en route. Their quarterfinal match ended at 7-6(5), 7-5, with the pair claiming 39 winners throughout.

CoCo and her partner could potentially meet Martina Hingis (EZONE DR 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125, SHT-PROL) and Sania Mirza, who made their way into the women’s doubles final with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta. A break late in the first set proved crucial to the pair’s success, where they advanced after dominating in the second set. Martina is also into the mixed doubles final with Leander Paes, winning 6-2, 7-5 over Yung-Jan Chan and Rohan Bopanna.
