Wimbledon: YONEX Players Power into Week 2

This past weekend at the All-England Club saw Team YONEX players continue to make big strides as Wimbledon enters into its second week.

World No. 4 Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Tour GSHT-PRO) is in round 4 after a solid victory against former Top 10 Fernando Verdasco from Spain. The Roland Garros champion broke the Spaniard once per set, booking his place in the next round with a resounding ace. The Swiss powerhouse hit 14 aces throughout the match, and a number of his red-hot winners came from his mighty backhand. With another straight-set win at 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, Stan has yet to lose a set at this year’s tournament. His service games remain robust, not yet being broken once throughout three matches.

Crowd-pleasing Australian firecracker Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98POLYTOUR PRO 120) upset No. 7 seed Milos Raonic to secure his place in the round of 16. The Australian dropped the tight opening set, but began to turn the tables in the second with a rock-solid serve, hitting three consecutive aces to fend off a break point. Grabbing 34 aces to his opponent’s 18 en route, the World No. 26 closed the match with a forehand, the final score coming to 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-3.

On the women’s side, No. 30 seed Belinda Bencic (EZONE Ai 100POLYTOUR HS 125) is into round 4 after defeating veteran Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Despite being lead early on, the World No. 22 built up momentum to secure a straight 7-5, 7-5 win. The 18 year old’s game was clean, committing only 10 errors compared to the American’s 29. CoCo Vandeweghe (EZONE Ai 98) maintains her strong run into the tournament’s second week, defeating World No. 23 Sam Stosur. The World No. 47 American went down two games at the very beginning, but charged into overdrive with a 12-game winning streak that resulted in an overwhelming 6-2, 6-0 victory.

Nick, Belinda and CoCo have won their way into week 2 with the EZONE Ai. Designed for swift swings and consistent high power, the EZONE Ai is proving to be a potent weapon at this year’s Championships. Big serving Stan continues to boast explosive performance with the VCORE Tour G. Backed up by the Tour G, Stan’s serve has yet to be broken even once throughout the tournament.
