The climax of this season, BWF Superseries Finals 2012 was held in Shenzhen, China from December 12th to 16th. The world No.1 men’s doubles pair, Mathias Boe (VT80) / Carsten Mogensen (VTZFLTD) won the title for the third successive occasion.
In the finals, the Danish pair faced second seeds Hiroyuki Endo (VTZF) / Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan. Using their height, Mathias / Carsten took a initiative with sharply-angled shots and quickness, and they earned 21 net winners throughout the match. Mathias / Carsten defeated the opponents in straight sets by 21-17, 21-19, and finished this season as the world No.1 ranking with the victory.
The doubles expert, Christinna Pedersen (NR800) achieved another title for Denmark. Pairing with Joachim Fischer Nielsen, Christinna stayed unbeaten in the group stage, and defeated the defending champions Zhang Nan / Zhao Yunlei in the group match.
Then in the final, the Danish mixed pair met the world No.4 Chinese pair again and overcame the opponents by 17-21, 21-12, 21-14. It was the second title of the tournament for them since they won in 2009. Christinna also advanced to the final of women’s doubles with Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR800). She showed brilliant performance to capture two titles during the year-ending tournament.
In the women’s singles, the hope of Thailand, 17-year-old Ratchanok Inthanon (ARC10) was undefeated in the group stage and progressed to the semifinals. In this season, she broke a record to reach the world No.9 ranking.
