Chong Wei Triumphs in Signature Gear
It couldn’t have been a better win for Chong Wei. Backed up by his LCW Exclusive line of gear, Chong Wei pulled off another explosive victory at his nation’s prestigious tournament without dropping a single game. Encouraged by the ever-enthusiastic crowd, Chong Wei came face-to-face with No. 1 seed Chen Long in the final.
Chong Wei strongly maintained expert control over the match, leaving his opponent without answers time and time again. Chong Wei accounted for all possibilities, reacting swiftly and decisively. Powerful attacks on the part of the Malaysian would either be sent sizzling into strategic areas of Long’s court, or prove too potent for the Chinese to properly return. The title went to Chong Wei with a final score of 21-13 21-8 when the Chinese sent the shuttle long. “The crowd inspired me,” commented Chong Wei upon winning at his local tournament.
Ratchanok on a Roll
A huge smile spread across Ratchanok’s face when she managed to follow up her India Open win with her first Malaysia Open title. This marks Thailand’s first women’s singles title at the tournament since 1959.
Much like Chong Wei, Ratchanok didn’t drop a single game on her way to victory. One of these victories included her first ever win against Wang Yihan, which brought her into the final. The 2013 World Champion faced off against Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in her bid for the title, facing some challenges as the match got underway. However, Ratchanok turned the tables and dominated her opponent. An extended rally on Ratchanok’s championship point would see opponent Tzu Ying error on a hairpin net shot: the match closed at 21-14 21-15.
