Roman Glory: Paolini’s Perfect Run Delivers Historic Double Victory

Rome, ITALY – Jasmine Paolini (ITA) thrilled the home crowd at the 2025 Internazionali BNL d’Italia, which is a WTA 1000 event, by accomplishing a historic double victory, capturing both the singles and doubles titles. In doing so, the Yonex star became the first Italian woman in 40 years to win the singles crown in Rome, etching her name into the nation’s tennis history. This is also her second WTA 1000 title and her first title on clay.

This triumph on the clay of Foro Italico was the biggest moment of Paolini’s career to date — and a dream come true. Entering the tournament in top form, Paolini stormed through the draw, winning all of her matches in straight sets except for a tough three-set battle in the quarterfinals against Diana Shnaider (RUS). In the final, she displayed poise and power to defeat World No. 3 Coco Gauff in straight sets, delivering a commanding performance in front of an electric Italian crowd.

“This is something I’ve dreamed about since I was a child,” Paolini said after the win. “To do it here, in my home country, means everything.”

In doubles, Paolini teamed up with fellow Italian Sara Errani to capture the title, further energizing fans and cementing her status as a national hero. Her incredible week not only made history but also propelled her to a new career-high of No. 4 as of May 19th 2025— marking the second time in her career she has reached this milestone.

Paolini’s breakout 2025 season is already building on her strong showing at Roland-Garros in 2024, where she reached the singles finals. Now, with her momentum, confidence, and clay-court prowess, expectations are soaring for another deep run in Paris.

Armed with her trusted Yonex gear and fearless playing style, Paolini is making her mark on the WTA Tour. With Roland-Garros fast approaching, set to begin on May 25th 2025, her victory in Rome is not just a highlight—it may be a preview of even greater achievements to come.
