YONEX players Bernard Tomic (VCORE Tour 97) and Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) overcame tough rivals in the third round of Wimbledon day six of the tournament, attacking with their VCORE Tour racquets.
After defeating American veteran James Blake in straight sets, Bernard faced No. 9 seed Richard Gasquet of France. Both players had solid service games throughout the match, but Bernard was under so much pressure, he constantly had to save break points. He maintained a strong level of play against the American’s attacks and managed to dominate his opponent in three close sets. Winning a big victory after such a tough fight with a 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5) score line, Bernard advances to the next challenge against world No. 6 ranked Tomas Berdych in the fourth round.
No. 23 seed YONEX player Sabine played against the 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur last Saturday. She secured 80% of her first serve points to keep her service games. Sabine also managed to gain four of nine break points. Earning 34 winners and 8 service aces throughout the match, Sabine overcame her opponent 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Reaching the quarterfinals in Wimbledon for three consecutive years, Sabine faces off against the defending champion Serena Williams in the fourth round.
