Team Yonex Secures Wins in All Five Categories at YONEX French Open 2024

PARIS, France – The YONEX French Open 2024 concluded with an exciting finale on Sunday, March 10th. Held at a brand-new venue in Paris, the tournament showcased numerous accomplishments by Team Yonex across all five categories, featuring intense showdowns among our remarkable players.

 

Kicking off the final day was the women's singles match, a captivating face-off between World No.1 An Se Young (KOR) and two-time BWF World Championships Gold Medalist, Akane Yamaguchi (JPN). While Yamaguchi secured the first game with her impressive shots, An Se Young displayed remarkable resilience, took control of the game, and ultimately secured the win with a final score of 18-21, 21-13, 21-10.

In the mixed doubles final, Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping (CHN) celebrated their first victory of this year’s tournaments against the 2023 BWF World Championships Gold Medalists, Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yu Jung (KOR), sealing the win with a score of 21-16, 21-16.

Subsequently, an enthralling women's doubles final unfolded, with World No.1 Jia Yi Fan and Chen Qing Chen (CHN) facing off against Chiharu Shida and Nami Matsuyama (JPN). Despite setbacks in the second game and almost losing the third, Jia Yi Fan and Chen Qing Chen regained control towards the end of the last game, ultimately claiming victory after the day's longest match. The final score stood at 21-12, 19-21, 24-22.

In the men's singles, Shi Yu Qi (CHN) continued his successful run, reaching the final of every tournament he participated in this year. In a challenging match against the 2023 BWF World Championships Gold Medalist, Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA), Shi Yu Qi emerged victorious with a final score of 22-20, 21-19, securing his second title of the year.

Wrapping up the tournament, the men's doubles match featured the , Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (IND), facing off against the 2024 German Open champions, Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan (TPE). In a swift two-game match, Rankireddy and Shetty claimed their second victory at the French Open, with a final score of 21-11, 21-17.
